Microchipping

Microchips are a lost pet's ticket home. Simple, safe, and effective.

Despite our best efforts, we cannot keep our eyes on our pets 24/7. They are naturally curious creatures and all it takes is a few seconds for them to get away and become lost. Microchipping a furry friend increases our chances of being reunited with them in case of any kind of accident. Please feel free to call us at 902-543-5602 to learn about our microchipping services. We can microchip dogs, cats and other types of furry friends.

How does a microchip work?

A microchip is a small device that we place inside your pet, just underneath their skin usually in between their shoulder blades. We can encode your contact info and your pet’s vital details onto the chip. So, if your pet gets lost and is found by another veterinary/rescue team, they can scan the microchip and retrieve your information, so they can get in touch with you and reunite you with your pet.

How old does a pet have to be to get microchipped?

We recommend patients roughly weigh 2 pounds or are about 6- to 8-weeks-old before they get microchipped.

Is pet microchipping painful?

Not at all. It is tolerated so well that we do not need to sedate pets for the procedure. (But if your pet is particularly anxious, we can certainly do so upon request.) The sensation of being microchipped is similar to getting a routine vaccination.
