I chose veterinary medicine because I always felt a special connection with animals. But also, this career challenges you every single day, and it’s always changing with new information, techniques and skills. A career as a vet tech is never dull, and you get to help all different types of animals get better.
I graduated from the formerly known Nova Scotia Agricultural College’s Veterinary Technology program in 2009. The area of veterinary medicine that interests me most is diagnostics/laboratory. I enjoy preparing/collecting samples, using laboratory equipment and examining microscope slides to aid the veterinarian in diagnosing the problem with the pet.
Our clinic is a very fast-paced work environment. The staff have a special relationship with each other. We share a sense of humour but are also passionate about our collective responsibility to make a difference in our patients’ lives. This makes the hard days easier and the good days better. A fun fact about me is that I love to sleep but hate to get ready for bed.
